Cape Verde registered a shock victory over Tunisia in Rades to book an unlikely place in the final World Cup qualifying phase. As hosts Tunisia only needed a draw to qualify, goals from Platini and Nhuck sent the minnows through against all odds. Cape Verde won Group B after finishing one point ahead of Tunisia. In Group J, Senegal beat Uganda 1-0 to qualify, while Ivory Coast were held by Morocco in a Group C game to spare. Cape Verde and Senegal join Nigeria, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso into the final phase. Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana have already qualified. The remaining finalists will be determined on Sunday as Cameroon and Libya vie for the spot in Group I.
