Mohamed Salah was involved in the only goal of a narrow victory for Basel over Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League third qualifying round. The Swiss champions could only register a slender victory in the first leg, courtesy of a first-half strike from Valentin Stocker. The goal came six minutes from half time when Salah was heavily involved in a wonderful team move featuring Marco Streller and Marcelo Diaz, who laid the ball off for Stocker to slide home. Salah almost forced an own goal in the second half when his cross was deflected toward goal by a defender, but the latter managed to make amends and clear. Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny also started the game at St. Jakob Park and was replaced in the 77th minute, ten minutes before Salah made way for Stephan Andrist. The second leg takes place in Tel Aviv on August 6, even though it is still unclear whether the Egypt duo will be available or not. Stocker goal Salah chance
