Zamalek facing Champions League 'catastrophe'

Zamalek have been placed in a critical situation after the Air Defense Stadium refused hosting next week's Champions League game with Ethiopia's Saint George.
The Whites were expected to host Saint George on Sunday, only for security forces to announce they are not responsible for the match at the Air Defense Stadium.
“This decision is just abnormal, rash and could result in catastrophic consequences," Zamalek board member Ibrahim Youssef told FilGoal.com.
“It only means Zamalek have withdrawn from the Champions League.
“I hope the ministry of sports El-Amry Farouk would intervene to save Egyptian clubs from forfeiting African competitions this season."
It is believed that the violence caused by Ahli fans in the recent win over Tusker is the reason behind the reluctance of security forces to take charge of matches in Egypt.
In addition to Zamalek, Ahli compete in the Champions League, while Ismaili and ENPPI play in the Confederation Cup.
