Ahli have eased to the CAF Champions League round of 16 after beating Kenya's Tusker 2-0 in Alexandria. First-half goals from Ahmed Abdul-Zaher and Emad Meteb ensured a comfortable win for the Egyptian giants at the Army Stadium. The seven-time champions qualify with a 4-1 aggregate victory over the Kenyan outsiders, who suffered their seventh defeat in eight games against Egyptian clubs. The result also marked a 22nd straight home victory for Egyptian clubs against an opposition from Kenya. Dominique da Silva came off the bench to miss a penalty; Ahli's fourth consecutive failure from the spot this season. Ahli's round of 16 opponents will be Tunisia's CA Bizertin who qualified with a 2-1 aggregate win over Dynamos of Zimbabwe despite a 1-0 defeat in Harare on Sunday. Fireworks! Abdul-Zaher flicked home Abdullah Al-Saied's cross with his third headed goal for Ahli on six minutes. Tusker keeper Boniface Oluoch made a double save to deny quick efforts by Al-Saied and Mohamed Barakat on the half-hour. In a controversial scene seconds later, television replays spotted a canister thrown onto the pitch by the home fans. As another canister was hurled inside Tusker's penalty area, Meteb fired the second with a sublime curling effort much to the panic of the visiting team. Play was stopped for a few minutes but Tusker almost snatched a goal before half time, only to waste a couple of good chances including a volley against the post. In the second half, Ahli's Shehab Ahmed almost scored a wonder goal after some slick passing by the Reds, but the midfielder's effort hit the bar. Substitute Dominique came on to win a penalty and take it himself, but his poor attempt was easily saved by Oluouch.
