A Port-Said criminal court confirmed death sentences to 21 people charged with murder in last year's stadium disaster. The verdict was announced on Saturday, following the January 26 ruling against the defendants of Egypt's worst-ever football disaster. After confirming the January death sentences, the court acquitted 28 others who were held in custody. It also handed former Port-Said head of security Essam Samak 15-year prison sentence, in addition to two other stadium officials and two police officers. While the initial January ruling has sparked a stream of violence in Port-Said, the reaction from the coastal city regarding the fresh decision has been normal so far.
