MATTROUH - A fire, probably caused by an electric short circuit, damaged one car of the Mersa Mattrouh-Cairo train near the northern coastal area of el-Dabaa, the police said Saturday confirming that no injuries or human losses were reported. They said that the last car of the Cairo-bound Train No. 939, which was coming from Mersa Mattrouh, caught fire after it was cleared to approach el-Dabaa station. No one was hurt in the incident as the passengers were immediately evacuated from the car and transferred to another train that took them to Cairo after half an hour, the police said. The fire was extinguished by firemen, but only after railway workers separated the car from the train and towed it to an open-air depot, the police said.
