ALEXANDRIA- Mohamed ElBaradei, the former chief of the UN atomic watchdog and a potential presidential candidate, Friday visited the family of a young blogger whose relatives say was beaten to death by police. ElBaradei, a Nobel peace prize winner, made the visit accompanied by his wife Ayda el-Khashef and his brother Ali to offer condolences to the family of Khaled Saeed. The visit was ElBaradei's first to Alexandria since his return to Egypt last February after more than two decades. A second autopsy report said on Wednesday that the 28-year-old blogger had died of asphyxia after choking on a bag of drugs he swallowed as two dectives approached him. Meanwhile, his family and local eyewitnesses insist he had been beaten to death by the two dectives on June 6.
