LUXOR - Tourist facilities and bakeries in the southern governorate of Luxor suffered more power cuts that were caused by a scorching heat wave during the past three days, the city council's chairman said Thursday. Temperatures surged to 40 degrees Celsius in a number of areas around Luxor City on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, causing power outages that hit hotels, bakeries and school during the final examination period, added Asaad Moustafa. "The power company has been trying to get its generating capacity back to normal to meet demand after a few days of a high demand," said the official. Newspaper reports said students had passed out from the heat during the final physics exams in some schools in Cairo, Suhag and Luxor.
