A KOREAN film festival is being held in the Creativity Centre of Cairo Opera House. The festival, which began on Wednesday, is featuring a group of the finest recent Korean productions, including The Marathon, which was screened on Wednesday, and Old Partner, which was screened on Thursday, along with More Than Blue. Today's screening will include For Horowitz or The Piano (The film has two names). The movie, directed by Kwon Hyeon, will be screened at 5pm. It tells the story of Kim Ji-su, a 31-year-old single woman, who wants to become a famous pianist like Horowitz. Her dream is shattered but she's able to go on by teaching children to play the piano. One day, she discovers that a young boy, Gyung-min, is a musical genius. She starts to give him intensive music lessons, preparing him for competition, but it does not turn out well. But later, when all seems lost, Ji-su is utterly shocked when she realises that Gyungmin carries a secret that will change her life forever. Also tonight, at 7:30, the movie Lifting King Kong will be screened. The movie, directed by Park Geon-yong, tells the story of retired weightlifter Lee Ji-bong (Lee Beom-soo), who reluctantly accepts a coaching position at a provincial girls' middle school. Ji-bong eventually accepts the group of enthusiastic yet clueless teenage girls, in order to pass on the painful skills of the unpopular sport. The movie, inspired by a true story, shows how the ill-equipped team members win the national sports festival and also transform one another's lives. Meanwhile, another movie with two names, Take Off or Ski Jump, will be screened tomorrow at 5pm. The incidents of the movie, which is directed by Kim Yong-hwa, take place in 1996 in a small Korean town undergoing a large-scale construction in preparation for a Winter Olympics bid. In the middle of the construction, the local committee are told that they do not have sufficient athletes to compete and they decide to form a ski jump team to participate in the event. Former American junior alpine athlete Bob is an adoptee who comes to Korea in search of his mother. With four other inexperienced athletes, he form the first Korean ski jump team. There's no turning back; it's a challenge they committed to.
