Technicians and experts hired by defence lawyers for Egyptian business tycoon Hesham Talaat Moustafa and ex-policeman Mohssen el-Sukkari, who are on trial for allegedly killing a Lebanese singer in Dubai, failed in a court session Wednesday to prove that the footage of the defendant entering the singer's residence was fabricated. "The Cairo Criminal Court registered the failure of an experiment to show that the video footage of defendant Mohsen el-Sukkari entering Al-Remal Hotel, where Suzanne Tamim was killed, could have been fabricated," a legal source said on Wednesday. He added that the technicians could not demonstrate that the footage of el-Sukkari was fabricated although the court allowed them to use all of the equipment and programmes they needed. The hearings of the high-profile trial will resume on June 26. During the session yesterday, the prosecution forwarded an official apology from the Dubai Chief Prosecutor, who was the first to investigate the crime. "Dubai Prosecutor Shoeib Ali Ahli said he could not be a witness in the case due to his busy schedule," the Egyptian Prosecution said in a statement yesterday. The court had subpoenaed Ahli last Sunday at the request of el-Sukkari's defence. Moustafa is accused of paying el-Sukkari 2 million dollars to kill Tamim; both were handed death sentences in May of last year but were granted a retrial on March 4.
