Egypt's Foreign Minsiter Ahmed Abul Gheit on Saturday held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Cairo on bilateral ties, regional and international issues of mutual interest. "There is a clear agreement on the need to strengthen ties in several fields," Abul Gheit told a joint press conference with Qureshi following their talks. He added that they had agreed on promoting co-operation in 21 fields including trade, industry, agriculture and water. Abul Gheit said that he had been briefed by his Pakistani counterpart on the development of ties between Pakistan and India, in addition to remarks on Afghanistan and Iran's nuclear programme. Qureshi, accompanied by a big delegation of businessmen, stressed the strength of his country's ties with Egypt. He, however, called for expanding economic ties between them. Qureshi had arrived in Cairo for a two-day official visit to co-chair the third session of the Pakistani-Egyptian Ministerial Commission. The Pakistan official is due to meet other senior Egyptian officials, including the Speaker of the Parliament and the Minister of Trade.
