Egypt's Zaki waits for a chance
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 10 - 04 - 2010

On-loan Hull City striker Amr Zaki said Saturday that he is waiting for his chance to prove former boss Steve Bruce he was wrong in criticising his performances last season.
The Egyptian striker played under Bruce last season, while temporarily at Wigan Athletic, but came under criticism from the now Sunderland boss for his professionalism that ultimately led to his return to Egyptian side Tamale.
The 27-year-old returned to the Premier League when he joined the Tigers on loan in January, but has failed to make an impact like he did while with the Latics.
However, the striker is happy with his move to the KC Stadium.
"I am totally satisfied with it,” he told Goal.com Arabia.
“I have played eight times but there are reasons stopping me from starring. I came from Injury and wasn't with the team in preparation for the season and sickness of my daughter also excluded me from the Egypt squad in Angola 2010."
Rumours had suggested that Zaki may be looking for a permanent move to Humberside, but the forward claims he isn't looking that far down the line.
"No one has talked with me about this [joining Hull City], but Phil Brown talked to me before he left in case Hull remain in the Premier league," he added.
"Up until now, I have no offers and if I didn't receive good offers I will go back to Zamalek, but now I am focusing on helping Hull."
Zaki has been regularly criticised by the media but now feels the opinions of him have changed, despite Bruce's comments while at Wigan.
"Media opinion about me has changed,” he continued.
“I am now back and waiting for my match against Sunderland to answer him on the pitch, because he insulted me and I proved him wrong when he said that I won't come back to England."
The Egyptian international was again criticised over alleged comments he made about joining Portsmouth, when it was claimed he had refused to play with the Israeli's at the club.
"This was lie,” he insisted.
“I am professional here getting my salary from an English club and my own objective here is to make Egypt proud of me with no relation between politics and sports."
Zaki has been sidelined through injury recently.
