A chilly end: An unemployed man drowned when he jumped into a canal, along with two other men, also unemployed. The trio were being chased by a mob, having been caught trying to burgle two flats. The three men, all from el-Waleediya in Assiut Governorate, broke into the two flats in Gerga, Sohag Governorate. The man who died in the chilly waters of el-Fouadiya Canal was named only as Hussein (40). His two friends, Mohamed (20) and Ahmed (30), have been arrested. As they fled for their lives from the angry crowd, they dropped the four mobile phones and LE15,000 they'd stolen from the two properties. Deadly drugs: An ex-convict killed a worker in an argument over some drugs. The first police heard about the incident was when residents in the village of Ezbet el- Khafir near el-Khanka in el-Qaliubia Governorate found a body in the street. The victim was identified as Abdel-Aziz Abdel- Razeq (20) and his killer as the former convict, an unemployed 24-year-old man called Reda Farouq. The two were good friends, but fell out when Abdel-Aziz failed to pay the suspect for some drugs he'd bought from him. Reda then stabbed him to death outside Ezbet el- Khafir Youth Club. He has been arrested and charged with premeditated murder, as well as possessing an unlicenced weapon. Aref and Ali: Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced two men to death, having found them guilty of murdering a trader. After killing him, they cut his body into pieces and also burnt his face, in a bid to hide his identity. The motive for their crime was theft. It was in April 2006 that the remains of their victim were found in two plastic bags under one of the bridges on the Autostrade. His head, arms and legs were in one bag, his torso in the other. Detectives soon discovered that the body was that of a 50-year-old trader called Medhat Abdel-Razeq, who lived in el- Khalifa, near where his body was found. Suspicion fell on the last people to have been seen with Medhat before his death: Aref el-Saeed, a 43-year-old ironing man, and 46-year-old Ali Hassan, a salesman. They also discovered that, because of the nature of his work, Medhat often carried around a lot of cash. Aref, a friend of his, was aware of this and used to borrow money from him. Aref asked Ali to help him murder the trader. Ali agreed and Aref invited the victim round to his flat, where he and Ali stabbed him to death, before stealing a large sum of money from him and disposing of his body. Haweesheels to hang: Meanwhile, el- Ismailiya Criminal Court has sentenced two Bedouin to death, having found them guilty of premeditated murder. The condemned, who are related, were named as Soleiman Saeed Haweesheel and Yehia Salama Farag Haweesheel. It was last April that they emerged from a mosque in Abu Seweir, having said the Friday prayers, and got into an argument with a man called Saoud Awda Ziyad. There was already bad blood between the Haweesheels and Saoud's family. The two sides started punching each other and Saoud laid about his adversaries with a club. Soleiman ran to his car and returned with an automatic weapon. He then fatally blasted Saoud in the street.
