A BRITISH co-pilot fell seriously ill after eating an Egyptian dish of koshari delaying his London-bound flight for more than four hours, Cairo airport officials said on Saturday. The co-pilot, who complained severe abdominal pains after having a breakfast that included koshari, could not fly the plane, which had more than 224 passengers on board, the officials added. They said that Flight BA 154 was delayed for four hours because the co-pilot was gravely ill after eating a tub of koshari at the hotel before coming to the airport. The pilot agreed to fly the aircraft alone without waiting for his co-pilot, who suffered from apparent food poisoning, the officials said. Koshari, a consumer friendly dish, is an elaborate tasty meal that has travelled to the four corners of the world with its famous Egyptian ingredients such as lentils, rice, macaroni, heavy tomato sauce, garlic sauce, hot spices, and fried onions.
