THE 58th session of the Catholic Centre Cinema Festival in Cairo honoured a number of prominent Egyptian actors and actresses Friday night, for taking an artistic stand against sectarianism and violence. The centre honored Egyptian actresses Mervat Amin (L), Soheir el-Barouni, Laila Elwi (left in the third photo); and actors Salah el-Saadani (left in the second picture), Hisham Selim (far right), el- Montaser Bellah, Ahmed Azmi and Farouq el-Rasidi in the Nile Hall at Joseph's Cathedral, located near the Bank Misr headquarters, in downtown Cairo. The head of the festival father Youssef Mazlom, delivered a speech in which he stressed that all religions call for what is right, good and beautiful; the festival, which ends next Friday, wanted to honour films delivering such messages. Meanwhile, Chief of the Cinema Union Mamdouh el-Leithi said in his speech that the local cinematic community backs the role of the Catholic Centre, ensuring the link between art and religion.
