Thousands of Egyptians Friday night crammed the Cairo Stadium to attend a grand ceremony to honour the national football team for winning the African Cup of Nations for a record seventh time. The audience included the two sons of President Hosni Mubarak, Alaa and Gamal, as well as senior officials. Egyptian official television telecast the colourful ceremony, in which Egypt's most celebrated singer Amr Diab performed. The proceeds from the festival will allocated for the relief of the victims of flooding, which hit several parts of Egypt last month.
