Spring of technology
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 21 - 01 - 2012

An exceptional round of Cairo's ICT is taking shape, as preparations started earlier than in previous years, to create the best possible image for the only ICT event in Egypt and the largest in the ME Region. The next fair will be held on April 26-29, 2012 at the Cairo International Conference Centre with the motto ‘The Spring Of Technology'.
The 16th ICT Trade Fair and Forum is held under the auspices of Mohamed Salem, Minister of CIT, and with the participation of many authorities, local and multinational companies working in Egypt, keen to make their presence felt after the revolution.
This opens the door to many projects and ideas. Some have already been launched or implemented, while others wait for political issues to settle down. A few more will be announced at this year's Cairo ICT.
The new date has been set in view of relative stability and political changes after the parliamentary and Shura council elections. Hossam Saleh, Executive Vice President of Trade Fairs International, the company organising Cairo ICT, said: “The fair will be like a spring breeze and give a boost to the ICT sector, which will soar to higher and wider horizons. Cairo ICT is an exceptional opportunity for all participants to discuss challenges, future investment opportunities and the prospects of local and regional growth.”
Saleh added: “The positive political developments Egypt is witnessing must be combined with the desire to develop and grow all our sectors with similar speed and force.”
He reiterated that the ICT sector played a major role in this important period and acted as a locomotive that could push the developments in various fields.
Saleh used Turkey, Brazil and India as examples of countries able to reach high growth levels in recent years. “They were able to reach these levels in a short period of time. This wouldn't have happened if they had not developed their human resources and used ICT in different fields, particularly in the realm of political rights and legislation.”
Cairo ICT 2012 will present a completely new image and incorporate the Cairo Security Summit, an event specialised in offering and showcasing international data security solutions and applications.
The Cairo Telecom Summit is another event. It will focus on major ICT sector issues, different Internet uses, 4G networks, ‘LTE' and IPv6 applications. The event will boast a number of internationally renowned speakers in co-operation with the UN.
Cairo ICT will have a new concept both in appearance and content, including topics discussed in the forum and new technology solutions presented for the first time in Africa and the Arab world.
The new concept will reach all aspects of the exhibition, from organisation and registration to hall partitioning, in order to achieve full integration between ICT, electronics, service providers and media from different sectors.
