CAIRO (Updated) - Twenty people were killed and another 425 injured in Tahrir clashes, the ministry of health reported on Monday. The ministry announced on Sunday that 10 people died and more than 324 injured. Some 110 of the injured were treated while 21 of them are still hospitalised, Mohamed el-Sherbini, a spokesman of the ministry, said. Clashes between protesters and police in the square that erupted for the third day in a row have so far left about 1700 injured, the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. Police fired tear gas sporadically through the night and into Monday morning against hundreds of protesters " scattered in groups in and around Tahrir " who responded with stones and rocks, according to an image on state TV. Protests in Tahrir Square have been going on since a massive anti-military rally on Friday, which called on the army to hand over power to civilian rule and return to barracks.
