CAIRO – The electoral committees nationwide have started receiving on Wednesday application forms of candidates seeking to contest parliamentary seats in Egypt, the official Middle East News Agency reported. The Supreme Elections Committee (SEC) had earlier determined the places of election committees which will receive applications forms nationwide. The registration process will run until October 18. The candidates can register between 9am and 2pm, except for the final day, when registration will be extended by three hours. The SEC said candidates can file the request by themselves or through proxy. The SEC prepared four models of candidacy application forms: the first is for People's Assembly (PA) candidates running as individuals, while the second is for PA candidates on party lists. The third and forth models concern Shura Council candidates running under individual and slate systems respectively. The SEC said that candidates should present documents indicating their capacity whether they are contending as workers, farmers, or professionals (mainstream candidates).
