CAIRO – Two bodies were pulled out of the Nile in Cairo on Wednesday after a bridge on the Corniche, outside Maadi Military Hospital, collapsed. The force of the collapse shook windows in the southern Cairo neighbourhood of Maadi and the sound was heard as far away as northern Cairo, witnesses said, although there were no reports of smoke rising from the rubble, the official Middle East News Agency reports. "The two bodies have been taken to the morgue," Dr Khaled el-Khatib, the head of the Central Administration for Emergency Care, affiliated to the Ministry of Health, was quoted by the MENA as saying, adding that two people are still feared missing. Egypt's Interior Ministry said Wednesday it was looking into the cause of an apparent explosion in southern Cairo that was heard across the city, again according to MENA.
