CAIRO - The Human Rights First Organisation (HRFO) has hailed Egyptian Government efforts to confront sectarian violence, according to its report published online. The HRFO said that the current ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has shown an ability to deal wisely with sectarian violence, according to Al-Youm Al-Sabie website on Monday. The report added that unlike the Mubarak regime's neglect of sectarian tension that led to clashes, the interim government has recognised the problem and set to defuse it. The report recognised the effort of undertaker government of Esaam Sharaf to form a national justice committee to study latest events and to propose amendments to the unified worship houses bill, which is yet to be endorsed. The organisation has also lauded the role of Al-Azhar in releasing a document that upholds a civil state in Egypt. The document called for establishing equality and justice among all sects of society-both the minority and majority . The organisation regarded Al-Azhar's stand in acknowledging religious freedom and rights of minorities as the right message that should be sent to the world. In the wake of the January 25 revolution remnants of the ousted Mubarak's regime stirred up sectarian clashes and violence nationwide. They tried to make a split in society, but the SCAF and Al-Zhar managed to abort further attempts for sectarian sedition, according to the report.
