CAIRO – Hundreds of protesters outside the official TV building rejected calls to open a main road until the state provides them with apartments of flats, a security official said. "We have talked to the protesters, all of them from the eastern Cairo area of Al-Salam. They insisted they had many unfulfilled pledges. This made them stick to their sit-in until they get flats," said Mohssen Murad, Cairo's chief security. The protesters, who are living in tents in Al-Salam area, are camping outside the state TV building on the Nile Corniche, blocking a main Cairo road that links the north to the south of the capital. "They rejected calls to open the road for now," Murad said. The security official added that security measures were tightened in the area as some of the protesters threatened to storm the TV building in case their demands were ignored.
