CAIRO - Cairo Criminal Court on Wednesday released ex-National Democratic Party (NDP) member Maged el-Sherbini on bail of LE50,000, pending investigations into his suspected involvement in the ‘Battle of the Camel', the official Middle East News Agency reports. The Battle of the Camel happened on February 2, when some thugs hired by members of Mubarak's regime attacked protesters in Al Tahrir Square, riding camels and horses, stoning protesters and shooting them. But the demonstrators calling for Mubarak's ousting launched counterattacks against them. Many people died in the battle. El-Sherbini, who had asked for bail, claims that he didn't participate in the events of February 2. Judge Mahmoud el-Sabrout had charged el-Sherbini with inciting to kill protesters, and organising and directing thugs to destabilise the country, as well as using violence and power to terrify people.
