CAIRO – Cairo Criminal Court on Tuesday upheld the detention of former speaker of the People's Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) Ahmed Fathi Surour for 15 days, pending investigations into charges of being involved in the killing of protesters in Tahrir Square in the 'Battle of the Camel', the official Middle East News Agency reports. The Battle took place in early February, when some members of Mubarak's regime hired thugs, riding camels and horses, to attack protesters in Tahrir Square. But the anti-Mubarak protesters stood up to the thugs.
