I don't know if you have noticed that we've been going online since the beginning of the year. If you have, then we can continue talking, if not….shame! But you can still check us out on www.egyptiangazette.net, so we can still carry on talking! Other than starting listing online benefits in the year 2010 (already?), maybe we can just jump on the opportunity and make the most out of it. This could be the second best thing to doing it live. As a reader for a newspaper article, I sometimes think “what the heck” or utter the occasional “wow” or just go for anything in-between. Now, we would like to see those verbalisations in print. So, if you're reading the article, it might be worthwhile to do the instant reaction expression. And get it over with! I can only promise, it will leave a mark (scar?) on this writer. Philip Harris was the first to take the opportunity on last week's article. His one word “Great”, believe it or not, inspired this article. So thanks for the compliment, and the inspiration! I truly believe that the “Add Comment” section could serve a very beneficial cause of interaction. We need to know how you feel, hopefully react to some thoughts and maybe even answer questions on application. This is the kind of service you get in seminar, or live radio shows (two of my favourite endeavors!) but we miss a lot of that in printed media. But then again, printed media is no longer just printed media. With media convergence (check my December articles) very much in place, we need to better our communication for maximum the benefit. In a recent seminar on media convergence, I suggested to participants to start building their own plans and projects for integration of all media channels into their organisations. The question we were asking was simply how to apply radio on publication, blogs into magazines and citizen journalism into media. Let's get to the real nitty gritty, why don't we include your thoughts, stories, examples, success stories, challenges... you name it, and really Get Down To Business. This approach might regard this application as some kind of a blog for e-communication among readers and this writer. One of the things I always envisioned was to turn this corner into a forum where thoughts are shared by all for business improvement in the various aspects, particularly in the human aspects. My call to send thoughts or write e-mails or the old-fashioned letters never stopped. However, and in spite of some good reactions, it was still not what I hoped for. Maybe the new service could help us do it better this time around. Lastly, other than commenting on ideas in the article, you may want to make a request to include something we have not done before. We may talk about delegation, but you want to read more about empowerment. An article could address change management, but you hope to get more on re-engineering, or maybe talking downsizing and you want to see rightsizing! Or finally, you might be interested in showing the other side of an aspect we cover, its pitfalls or drawbacks, or its upside and gains. I would not know where you want to take me, but I can only promise I will be dressed for the occasion! Final words: You write those words, this time!
