LUXOR - Work on pending tourist projects in the Upper Egyptian Governorate of Luxor will be resumed soon, despite a credit crunch, Governor Major General Khalid Fouda said. "The Governorate will go ahead and remove all obstacles impeding these projects," Governor Fouda told The Gazette. However, he said that the first phase of a project for the 2,700 metre-long Ramsis Avenue, which connects the Karanak and Luxor temples, will be completed on September 30 with the removal of all encroachments on both sides of the famous avenue. He said that the acute credit crunch had compelled the Governorate to halt a comprehensive project to upgrade the Corniche after completing its first phase. The implementation of this project will be resumed once the necessary funds were available, Governor Fouda said. He added that the pending projects, which included restoring the Essna Temple and turning the Dababda Area into a natural reserve, had been designed to increase the tourist flow into Luxor.
