CAIRO - The Cairo Atelier in downtown Cairo is currently holding three exhibitions of the works of young artists – from South Korea, Egypt and Libya respectively. Kim Hyun Ju, aged 28, has a degree in fine arts from Dantook University in Korea. She has held many exhibitions in Egypt, Greece and also India. Kim, whose exhibition at the Cairo Atelier, entitled ‘Inter Being' is being sponsored by the Korean Cultural Centre, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cairo, is displaying 25 of her works. Twenty of her works are in mixed media, while the other five are prints that she's made. Her paintings are ‘deep and meaningful', as you can see from the photo. Kim is planning to travel to Greece soon, where she hopes to do a workshop and organise another exhibition. She says she loves Egypt and hopes to come back soon. Let's hope she does. As for 21-year-old Egyptian artist Sayyed Arafat, who in March participated in the Winter Academy Group Exhibition in Cairo, his paintings can best be described as serious. They mainly deal with the recent revolution and the world el-Shaab (The People) is writ large in many of them. His current exhibition at the Atelier is entitled ‘The People's Demand'. Marwa Benhalim, at 18 the youngest of the three artists, was born in Libya but lives here in Egypt. She recently finished her studies at the Modern English School in New Cairo. Like Sayyed, Marwa took part in the Winter Academy Group Exhibition two months ago. The paintings in her exhibition, entitled ‘Features', are mainly in black and white and mostly of people's faces. They're quite striking in fact. The three exhibitions, being held at the Cairo Atelier, 2, Karim el-Dawla Alley, near Talaat Harb Square in downtown Cairo, run until Saturday. They're open from 10am to 1pm and 5pm to 10pm. Entrance is free.
