ADDIS ABABA - Egypt and Ethiopia have agreed to open a new chapter that aims at boosting and serving the interests of their people in all domains, a diplomat has told the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Friday. "Egypt will launch a new diplomatic plan targeting the enhancement of its relations with Ethiopia," Cairo's envoy to Addis Ababa Tareq Ghoneim said during a special event to welcome a popular team visiting the African country. "We should open a new page, leaving the past behind to achieve prosperity to the two nations's people," Ambassador Ghoneim told the delegation, which comprises a group of Egyptian officials and activists. The team arrived here earlier in the day to improve Egyptian-Ethiopian ties as part of a diplomatic offensive for solving an outstanding dispute between the two countries over the Nile water sharing quota. The delegation will hold a series of meetings with the Ethiopian prime minister, the foreign minister and religious leaders with the aim of boosting Cairo-Addis Ababa ties appearing high on the agenda. Ethiopia has said that its relations with Egypt has remarkably improved since the the downfall of Hosni Mubarak's regime on February 11.
