CAIRO - Egypt's Orascom Housing Communities (OHC), a subsidiary of Swiss-based Orascom Development Holding, said on Sunday it will deliver its housing units as scheduled at its flagship project. Analysts have said Egypt's real estate sector may struggle to meet delivery as construction activity has been hit by political unrest following President Hosni Mubarak's ouster. Orascom Development is known mostly for building and running high-end resort towns, but OHC is planning several low-income projects modelled after Haram City, their low-income housing area near the pyramids just outside Cairo. "(OHC) maintains its scheduled progress of the newest phase 'Haram Life.' The new phase will span over an area of 504,000 square metres (5.425 million sq ft) and will include over 4,500 housing units upon completion," the statement said. "To date approximately 600 units were sold and their delivery is maintained at the set date." Haram Life, launched in 2011, is the latest phase of Haram City, a fully integrated community holding approximately 70,000 housing units upon completion.
