CAIRO - Former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said he could consider running for Egypt's presidency if there were a 'popular will' among Egyptians for him to do this. "I do not think of running for Egypt's presidency. However, I can reconsider this position if there is a popular wish," said Shafiq during a meeting with Mohamed Attia, a Facebook subscriber who started a campaign to garner a million signature for Shafiq to run. Shafiq added that he would not form a political party. "I do not like working in parties," he said. Shafiq, an ex-Air Force general, worked as a minister of civil aviation for eight years before he was appointed by former President Hosni Mubarak as a prime minister amid mass protests on January 29. He resigned 40 days later.
