CAIRO - Vodafone told Reuters Thursday that, while data services for internet access have been turned back on, its ability to provide customers with text messaging services is still blocked. "It will be restored when we are authorized. We are in a continuous dialogue with government on keeping our services up. But this is a country that still has a curfew in place," Vodafone's chief executive, Vittorio Colao, said. Colao also said that there are some towers that are down in some areas of Egypt, but that it has been hard to get its engineers to those areas to fix them. "We know how many are down but we don't know whether they're damaged yet, because if you don't have fuel or they're in areas where there's no electricity, you don't know if it's damaged or just not running," Colao explained.
