CAIRO--Egypt's Minister of Irrigation Nasr Eddin Allam has said that Egypt's Nile water quota will not be affected by the scession of South Sudan from the North. Addressing a gathering in Cairo on Monday night, the official said that Egypt's quota of the Nile waters, estimated at 55.5 billion cubic metres, is established under internationally recognised pacts. Last May, Egypt and Sudan refused a controversial treaty signed by other Nile Basin countries on re-distribution of the Nile waters.
