DOHA – Raising its global profile, Qatar has unveiled a major world prize to be presented starting next year for an individual making significant contribtion to enhance education. It was not long before an explanation was found for this unexpected silence. Turkish Minister of Tourism and Culture Ertugrul Gunay had decided to reciprocate Egypt's generous attention and hospitality towards Turkish cinema and artists by a reception in honour of the Festival Committee and visiting delegations. Turkish Ambassador Huseyin Avni Botsali did not miss this opportunity to organise a casual party with a Turkish cultural show at his residence. Mrs. Inci Botsali and the Ambassador cordially received numerous prominent Egyptian and international dignitaries and celebrities, who included festival executives, senior diplomats, artists, filmmakers, scenario writers and, of course, the press. Turkey's Cankiri Karatekin University students, who were touring Egypt on a cultural week programme, impressed the audience with their fashion show of traditional Turkish costumes and folk dances. Ambassador Botsali, expressing his admiration of the Cairo International Film Festival, stated that the festival had been a great success and served bringing peoples and cultures closer. This year, Cairo International Film Festival had a special focus on Turkish cinema with one Turkish film participating in the International Film Competition and five others put on screen throughout the festival. Turkey also was represented strongly at the festival through famous popular celebrities like Murat Yildirim of the "ASI", Meltem Cumbul and Saadet Aksoy who coloured Ambassador's reception.
