CAIRO - Hundreds of passengers crowded in Cairo's el-Demerdash Metro Station Wednesday as a power cut in the station led services on Line One of the Underground which extends from el-Marg to Helwan to be disrupted for more than two hours. Passengers pleaded with the National Authority of Tunnels to fix the breakdown, which caused chaos and over-crowdedness inside the Metro as well as traffic snarls in the streets outside. The Gerater cairo underground is the only full-fledged metro system in Africa. It consists of two lines, which carry around 700 million passengers a year and on average 2 million per day.
