CAIRO -President Hosni Mubarak and Aswan Governor Moustafa el-Sayyed Sunday discussed the situation in the Upper Egyptian Governorate, where the rains destroyed a dozen of homes and injured 15 persons on Friday, the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) said El-Sayyed confirmed to Mubarak that Aswan was returning to normal life after torrential rains, which uprooted more than 60 trees, and partially damaged some homes in the village of Draw . Meanwhile, a Government minister has confirmed that electricity pylons and power lines are intact and fully operational after torrential rains and dust-storms that hit Aswan . Electricity Minister Hassan Younis said that the pylons and overhead high voltage power cables in Aswan had withstood the strong rains and storms and were functioning at full capacity . However, he said the Ministry had to cut off the electric current from some areas in Aswan for few hours after the rain and dust storms as precautionary measure to protect the lives and houses of the residents .
