SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt, Oct 1, 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will open later on Monday the first Arab forum for special education schools, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said. The gathering to be held at the grand conference hall in Sharm, will be attended by representatives from a host of Arab countries in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Education Minister Tarek Shawki and South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda. A number of Arab ministers, including from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait and Jordan, will take part in the forum. Following the inauguration ceremony, the Education ministry will organise some competitions and performances for Special-Needs Students in the youth village in Sharm El Sheikh. President Sisi had announced in July a number of initiatives aimed at empowering Egyptians with disabilities to integrate them into society. In a speech he delivered at the seventh annual Cairo Information Technology Convergence and Services for People with Disabilities conference, Sisi announced the establishment of the National Academy for Information and Communication Technology for People with Special Needs. He said the academy would operate to the highest standards to train those with special needs to help them secure job opportunities. Sisi also announced the establishment of a technological institute for people with disabilities, which he said would be the first of its kind in Africa. The institute will make use of technologies to assist those with hearing and communication disabilities.
