CAIRO, Sept 29, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh shoukry on Friday met with his counterpart of Burundi Ezechiel Nibigira. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 73rd meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, tackled the bilateral relations and means of boosting them, as well as regional issues of common concern. Shoukry affirmed Egypt's keenness on providing Burundi with medical aid, capacity building and transfer of expertise through the provision of training courses for Burundian cadres. He expressed the desire to increase the trade exchange volume and to boost Egyptian investments in Burundi by arranging a visit for a delegation of Egyptian businessmen to Bujumbura. The Foreign Minister also welcomed the positive developments in achieving national consensus in Burundi through holding the fifth round of national dialogue. In turn, Nyamitwe hailed the deeply-rooted relations linking his country with Egypt, expressing keenness on boosting them in the various fields. On regional issues, the two ministers discussed joint coordination in the international forums as well as the recent developments regarding the Ethiopian dam negotiations.
