QENA, Upper Egypt, Sept 27, 2018 (MENA) - Premier and Housing Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected West Qena City which is one of the most important development projects in Qena governorate. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had witnessed laying the foundation stone of the new city a few months ago to establish an integrated urban community in order to attract investments and secure good living conditions for Qena residents. The premier inspected the housing ventures currently implemented in the city besides the infrastructure of roads, sewage and water networks. Madbouli hailed achievements attained in the project during a short period of about four months. He said that there are two cities established in Qena governorate; New Qena and West Qena cities, adding that the latter is just five kilometers away from the main city. The Housing Ministry is committed to finalise the first stage of the West Qena in June 2020 in line with the directives of President Sisi. The city is considered one of the fourth generation cities constructed on about 8971 feddans, and is expected to accommodate about 550,000 persons. Concerning extending electricity to the city, the head of the city said that electricity grids designs for the first stage of the city has been finalised. There has been coordination with a water and waste water company in Qena to establish a water tank for the city. Meanwhile, the premier was briefed about the progress of work in a major housing project that includes 720 housing units to be built with a cost of LE216 million. Madbouli also inspected Qena public hospital to stand on the medical services it offers. The premier made sure that patients receive adequate services as the hospital caters to a large segment of citizens in the governorate.
