BEIJING, Sept 2 , 2018(MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt and China play a pioneering role in peace, security and development at the African and international levels. "We are looking forward to maintaining and developing this role as Egypt enjoys a significant geo-strategic position," the Egyptian leader said in his address here on Sunday at the Chinese Communist Party Academy. Egypt is considered China's cultural and historical partner in the Belt and Road initiative which is based on reviving the Silk Road. Egypt has expressed full support to the initiative and asserted the importance of the projects both sides seek to implement in the Suez Canal zone within the framework of the initiative, President Sisi said. The Chinese president witnessed in January 2016 the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the governments of both countries with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the infrastructure sector and the implementation of mega national projects particularly as regards the Suez Canal's economic zone and the New Administrative Capital, he added. The Egyptian president pointed out to the great efforts Egypt has exerted over the past four years to re-establish the state and the economy. Egypt adopted an active strategy for movement abroad to restore its position in the region, bring closer Arab ranks and regain regional stability, he added.
