Alexandria, August 25, 2018 - Salah Mohsen and Aly Maaloul both found the net as Al Ahly defeated El-Hodood 2-0 in the fourth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League. Al Ahly entered the game, aiming to record their third league win, in order to top the league with ten points. Al Ahly's French manager Patrice Carteron started with Sherif Ekramy instead of Mohamed El-Shennawy who picked up an injury against Wadi Degla. Ahmed Hamoudi and Salah Mohsen also earned a place in Carteron's starting lineup for the game. Al Ahly failed to register a single shot in the first half, as El-Hodood turned the first 45 minutes into a physical game, maintaining strong defence and composure. The Alexandrian side prevented Al Ahly from building up play and creating dangerous chances on goal, ending the first 45 minutes as a goalless draw. Five minutes into the game, Naser Maher came on to replace Ayman Ashraf. El-Hodood wasted a glorious chance in the 53rd minute, as Emam Ashour's header went just wide. Islam Mohareb came on in the 62nd minute to replace the injured Hamoudi. Just one minute later, Al Ahly's record signing Salah Mohsen opened the scoring following a howler from El-Hodood's goalkeeper Mossad Awad. The Red Devils doubled their lead in the 69th minute, as Aly Maaloul sent the ball home from the spot, after Walid Azarou earned a penalty kick for the Reds. 10 minutes later Azarou tapped Amr El-Soulia's ground cross past Awad, but the Moroccan's goal was ruled out for offside. Carteron made his third substitution in the final 10 minutes, as Akram Tawfik replaced Salah Mohsen. Following the win, Al Ahly tops the league table with ten points and are set to face Kampala City on the 28th of August. Meanwhile, El-Hodood occupy the 16th spot with one point and will face Petrojet on the 31st of August.
