CAIRO, July 5, 2018 - Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla said Thursday Egypt's natural gas production would increase from 6.0 to 6.7 billion cubic feet per day by the end of 2018. "The increase of the Zohr gas field output to 1.75 billion cubic feet daily and the increase in production of other fields will contribute to the rise of Egypt's total gas production by the end of 2018," the minister said at a press conference. He said negotiations were under way with the EU financial institutions to fund the extension of a gas pipeline between Egypt and Cyprus. He added that an agreement over the pipeline would be signed with the Cypriot side, in the next few months.
