CAIRO, July 3, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait has expressed his ministry's support for the new health insurance system, pointing out that the state budget will back the system financially especially during its early stages. A statement issued by the Finance Ministry on Tuesday said the minister's statements came in a meeting with Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed to discuss the steps taken so far for launching the new health insurance system in Port Said governorate ahead of referring a report on its progress to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli so as to have the system generalized nationwide later on. Talks covered the formation of a high-level ministerial committee representing the ministries of health, finance, planning, social solidarity, communications and local government to follow up the implementation of the project. Minister Zayed promised that all aspects of the project, pertaining to preparing hospitals and staff, creating a broad-based database of health service recipients and providers and issuing mechanized health insurance cards will be finalized so as to render the system a success.
