CAIRO, June 30, 2018 (MENA) - Trade exchange between Egypt and Russia hit 2.163 billion dollars during Q1 of 2018, with an increase of 49 percent in comparison with the same period in 2017, Russia's trade representative in Cairo Nikolai Aslanov said on Saturday. Russia's exports to Egypt between January-April hit 1.879 billion dollars, while Egypt's exports to the world's largest nation reached 284 million dollars during the same period, the trade representative added in statements to MENA. Wheat topped Russia's exports to Egypt with a total value of 624 million dollars, 33 percent of the Russia's exports, followed by metals that accounted for 19 percent of the exports, with a value standing at 367 million dollars, Aslanov noted. With a total value of 288 million dollars , petroleum and gas exports represent 15 percent of Russia's exports to Egypt. Egypt's exports to Russia included fruits that account for 47 of the exports, with a total value of 134 million dollars, vegetables that stood at 112 million dollars along with garments with 13 million dollars.
