CAIRO, June 27, 2018 (MENA) - Exports of Egypt's food industries sector increased by three percent against the corresponding period of 2017 to hit 1.3 billion dollars, according to the Food Export Council. Saudi Arabia tops the list of countries receiving Egyptian food exports with 130-million-dollar imports to be followed by Jordan, Libya and the UAE, the council said in a statement Tuesday evening. The United States ranked the fifth followed by Yemen, Iraq, Germany, Algeria and Palestine, the statement said. In the first five months of 2018, Egyptian food products were exported to 159 countries, 52 percent of them were Arab states. Soft drinks were on top of Egypt's food exports to be followed by frozen vegetables and fruit, cheese, sugar, olive pickles, fruit juice, chocolate, baked products and dates.
