HAMBURG - Egyptian company Meditrade has purchased 20,000 tonnes of soyoil from local Egyptian suppliers and 16,000 tonnes of imported sunflower oil in a tender which closed on Tuesday, European traders said. The soyoil was purchased at 4,845 Egyptian pounds a tonne for August delivery which traders said was the equivalent of $835.93 a tonne. It also bought 16,000 tonnes of sunflower oil, all at $859 a tonne c&f, traders said. Some 15,000 tonnes of the soyoil was sold byWatania/Cargill and 5,000 tonnes by Alex Seeds. Toepfer sold 6,000 tonnes of sunoil for first half August delivery and Glencore 10,000 tonnes for second half August delivery. Traders said other bids made in the tender in dollars per tonne c&f with arrival period were: Dreyfus Soyoil 15,000 tonnes, second half August $864 Toepfer Soyoil 15,000 tonnes, second half August $852 Noble Soyoil 15,000 tonnes, second half August $868 Glencore Soyoil 15,000/20,000 tonnes, second half August $859.85 Bunge Soyoil 15,000 tonnes, second half August $858.94 Nidera Soyoil 8,000 tonnes, first half August $855.78 Sunoil 10,000 tonnes, second half August $885.00 The privately-owned Meditrade generally tenders on the global market to buy vegetable oil on behalf of Egypt's state-owned General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC).
