CAIRO, April 10, 2018 - The head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCEZone) Mohab Mamish on Tuesday said that 249 ships carrying a total cargo of 17.7 million tonnes transited the Suez Canal between Friday and Tuesday, establishing a new record for the number of vessels and the total cargo carried through the waterway in five days. Mamish added that 125 vessels carrying a total cargo of 8.8 million tonnes transited from the north of the waterway, while 124 others with a combined load of 8.9 million tonnes passed through the canal from the south.
