CAIRO, April 5, 2018 - Upon direct orders by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the government will dispatch 10 tonnes of medical aid to Yemen through Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman said on Thursday. Two Egyptian aircraft, carrying five tonnes of medical supplies each, will fly to Riyadh shortly in accordance with orders from President Sisi, Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. The first aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Riyadh on Friday and the second will arrive in the Saudi capital on April 9, he said. The cargo includes medicines, vaccinations and medical necessities, Abu Zeid added. "The cargo is to be delivered to the Riyadh-based King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Works, which will distribute it to hospitals and medical centres in different Yemeni areas in order to support the medical services that are being provided to our Yemeni brothers," he said.
