CAIRO, April 5 (MENA) - Monday, April 9, is a fully-paid vacation for all private sector employees on the occasion of Sham el Nessim, said Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan on Thursday. If necessary, the worker has to get double pay for working during the holiday in line with the labour law, said Saafan. The minister greeted Pope Tawadros II and all Egyptian Copts over Easter, wishing more progress and property to beloved Egypt under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Sham el-Nessim is a local holiday marking the beginning of spring. It always falls on the day after the Eastern Christian Easter. But, Despite the Christian-related date, the holiday is celebrated by Egyptians of all religions. They usually spend the day in public parks, by the Nile, or at the zoo. The day used to be celebrated by ancient Egyptians as a tradition. The most popular treats of the day are fesikh (a fermented, salted and dried grey mullet), lettuce, scallions or green onions, Lupine, and coloured boiled eggs.
