CAIRO, April 4 (MENA) - Egypt voiced on Wednesday its deepest condolences to the Mauritanian people and government after a terrorist attack which targeted peacekeeping forces in Central Africa and left one Mauritanian peacekeeper dead and 11 others wounded. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, in a released statement said that Egypt is siding with Mauritania in this ordeal. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid voiced Egypt's appreciation for the sacrifices of the UN peacekeeping mission in Central Africa for fighting terrorism. Militia fighters attacked a UN peacekeeping base in the Central African Republic early Tuesday, and one peacekeeper from Mauritania was killed and 11 others were injured in a gun battle that lasted several hours, the United Nations had said.
