CAIRO, April 03, 2018 - The Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Sedki Sobhi, on Tuesday congratulated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on the precious confidence of Egyptians and wished him great success during his second term in office.
Minister Sobhi, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, stressed that the Armed Forces would continue to co-operate fully with the political leadership to complete the march of development nationwide.
The remarks came on Tuesday during the opening session of the 9th International Scientific Conference, organised by the Military Technical College, with the participation of more than 26 scientific bodies including universities and research institutes and centres.
The conference, which will wrap up its activities tomorrow, is to discuss more than 200 research papers in 49 scientific sessions and 23 workshops involving scientists from 22 Arab and foreign countries worldwide.
The conference aimed at achieving real development in scientific research, Minister Sobhi said, adding that the General Command of the Armed Forces is fully convinced of the importance of scientific research so as to graduate a generation of scientists capable of serving the country and its Armed Forces. Education and scientific research are among the most important axes of the progress of nations, he stressed.
The minister expressed his happiness with the participation of the Egyptian officers in scientific research abroad, praising the outstanding efforts exerted by the the Armed Forces personnel in all fields with the purpose of honing their skills and developing their combatant and technical capabilities in such a modality that enables them to play their role in protecting the national security and serving the Egyptian people.
Minister Sobhi called on army officers to attach due importance to innovation, exchange of expertise and keeping abreast of the latest research applications with the aim of overcoming the existing challenges and developing appropriate solutions based on accurate scientific bases.
"The political leadership pays great attention to scientific research and encourages its personnel to distinguish themselves in this field," Minister Sobhi said, referring to the initiative of President Sisi adopted by the Military Technical College in co-operation with a number of ministries and agencies concerned to realise scientific progress and development nationwide.
Minister Sobhi on Tuesday also opened the scientific exhibition that was held on the sidelines of the conference, which showcases the latest products and innovations produced in co-operation with the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation, the National Organisation for Military Production, the Arab International Optics, and several major local and international industrial companies.
